Packing Peanut Fun
Sometimes you just need to let them make messes. Big ones.
These are packing peanuts, and yes, they are scooping them with a dustpan & a snow shovel. They also wallowed in them in the box, threw them in the air like snow, dissolved them in water, pretended the box was a boat, colored the "boat" with markers, picked up the packing peanuts and dumped them out again... It was all great fun and it was completely harmless.
This is a good way to teach consequences too. That momentary thrill they feel when they dump out a box full of packing peanuts compared with the boredom and hard work that they feel for a much longer time while they pick up every single one and put it BACK in the box. Yes, this will be useful in one of my Building Character lessons. :)
Happy Friday!
